Soon Espoo will never be the same.
It will be home to EriCa. Green Chemistry Park. A cradle of green chemistry. A petri dish for a better tomorrow, where highly dedicated people work, innovate and thrive.
What is sustainable chemistry?
The main principles of sustainable chemistry are safer, more efficient and environment-friendly planning, manufacture and use of chemical processes, products and services.
A unique ecosystem is emerging.
The Finnoo district of Espoo will be home to EriCa, a science hub for top experts and companies in chemistry whose mission is to change the world. At EriCa, international companies, ambitious growth companies, expert organisations and research and training institutes will create a better world with the help of chemistry.
Sustainability is a natural part of EriCa
EriCa has achieved BREEAM certification with a rating of Very Good for the project’s planning phase, and it will be certified once the building is completed, targeting a rating of Very Good.
At EriCa, sustainability has been comprehensively taken into account. On the construction site and in the building’s materials, only responsibly procured and certified wood products are used, and products that have been granted an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) are used as much as possible. In the material choices, low-emission options are considered.
Sustainable water consumption at EriCa is supported by efficient water fixtures, a water leak detection system and comprehensive water metering.
Different user groups and accessibility have been comprehensively taken into account in the building’s design.
